I’m pleased to announce that the new Photo Challenge system is now installed and ready for its first run.

The system allows you to upload Photo Challenge entries right here on the website. Once uploaded, you can tell all of your friends about your entry by sharing it on your favourite social media sites or sending them a direct link. People who like your image can easily vote for it. And, of course, you can vote for other entries that you like as well.

Two winners will be chosen from each Photo Challenge. Winners will each receive an Amazon Gift Card valued at $5. There are two winning categories.

People’s Choice:
The entry that gains the most number of votes. If two or more entries have the same number of votes, a winner will be randomly selected from those entries.

Judge’s Choice:
The image that is judged by us as a winning entry based on the following criteria:

How well the entry has fulfilled the specified theme of the challenge.
How interesting or engaging the image is.
The overall quality of the image.

Links to the winning photographs on the Weekly Photo Challenge page will be posted on the Take Off The Lens Cap social media feeds and in our newsletter.

Using the system is pretty simple. Just be sure to read the information in the “Rules and Prizes” tab before submitting your entry. If you are a bit unsure, feel free to ask in the comments below or send me an email.

Please note that, since this system is newly implemented, there is a chance that something might not work as planned.  If something goes wrong, please add a comment describing the issue below or flick me an email and I’ll see if I can sort it out.

Anyway, enough chatting from me. Lets’ go! Click the link below to get started. I’m really looking forward to seeing your submissions.

Not sure how to answer image description .. what does that mean?

    • brettmc1963

Linda, this just means to add some words that describe what the image shows. For example, if an image depicts a pet dog, the description could be “Rover, my two-year-old German Shepard playing in the dog park.” The description can be just a few words or you could describe in more detail what is going on in the photograph. Let me know if you need any more info.
